The relatives of a middle aged man a resident of Karas area in West Pokot county who died while receiving treatment at Kapenguria referral Hospital, after allegedly being beaten by his lover’s brother are now demanding for justice for their son.
The family, Led by the deceased’s uncle Charles Kibor, claim that the suspect has a criminal history, and that there are plans to deprive them of justice due to the fact that the suspect’s father is a police officer.
Meanwhile the deceased family stated that despite filing a report with the police officers at the Kapenguria police station, no action has been taken till now.
“We as a family are crying for justice because despite reporting to the police no action has been taken so far. We feel that there are plans to deprive us of justice because the suspect’s father is a police officer,” said Mr. Kibor
The deceased mother claims that the suspect’s family has changed the statement and directed the blame to his girlfriend to exonerate the main suspect.
She said that the deceased was the pillar of the family after his father passed away 12 years ago.
“We arrived at the police station to file a statement, but we found that the suspect’s family had already recorded that his girlfriend killed him, which is a lie,” she said.
Kapenguria area police commander Kipkemoi Kirui has stated that they are detaining the deceased’s girlfriend who submitted herself to the police claiming that she was responsible for his death.
However, Kipkirui said after investigation, it was found that the murder was carried out by her brother and currently efforts are ongoing to track him after he escaped.
“We are detaining the girl because she filed a statement saying that she killed the boy. But our investigation revealed that it was his brother who killed him. Now we are searching for him,” said Kirui.
The deceased identified as Aaron Kisang, passed away on 28th February while receiving treatment at the Kapenguria hospital due to severe head injuries where according to the doctor’s report he was hit on the head with a blunt object.
