By Joseph Lochele,
The women representative’s office in West Pokot County has on Wednesday 20th March launched one million shillings to fund more than 200 students from the county to continue their studies.
The National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) chairman West Pokot county Abraham Lokedi said that 12 students will get full scholarships of Ksh 30,000 each, while 200 students will get funding of Ksh 5000 each.
“Today, we have given out one million shillings bursary to students, from the NGAAF fund where 12 students will get full scholarship,” said Lokedi.
NGAAF coordinator West Pokot county Samson Nyongesa, said that the funds have been launched to support students who were unable to get funding from the county government bursary as well as the constituencies development fund NGCDF.
“This fund is meant for children who missed out in the county bursary and the constituencies development fund NGCDF,” said Nyongesa.
In addition, Nyongesa said that the office of the women representative has a return to school program for female students who were forced to stop their studies due to lack of school fees and teenage pregnancies.
He asked those who have such challenges to contact the relevant office to get the funding.
