West Pokot Residents to Benefit From Kijabe Hospital Programme

Doctors from the Cure International Hospital located in Kijabe have visited Kapenguria County Referral Hospital in Pokot West County to examine children with disabilities whose limbs can be repaired.
The visit which took off on Wednesday 28th of February 2024 at the Kapenguria County Referral Hospital saw a number of West Pokot residents turn up for the exercise.
Meanwhile, the team led by Dr. Joseph Theuri, examined children with disabilities such as bent legs, spine and organs that do not work well, while those who need surgery are sent to Kijabe Hospital.
“Here we look at children who have disabilities and identify those who will need surgery so they can be sent to Kijabe hospital. We focus on issues like crooked legs, spine among others.” said Theuri.
On the other hand, a senior official in the county’s health ministry, Nelly Soprin, said the county government will manage transportation methods for children who need surgery to Kijabe hospital for treatment.
In addition Ms Sporin also noted that for the problems that can be fixed without need of referrals will be done at Kapenguria County Referral hospital.
“Problems that can be fixed, we do here. But those who will need to undergo surgery will have their names written and the type of surgery that will be required. Through the support of the county government they will be sent to Kijabe hospital.” said Soprin.
On her part, the spouse of the governor of West Pokot County, Scovia Kachapin, praised the existing cooperation between West Pokot County and Kijabe Hospital, which she said has been of great benefit to the residents.
“I am very grateful for the good cooperation that has existed between this county and Kijabe hospital. Our people have greatly benefited from that partnership,” said Ms. Scovia.
