West Pokot County ward representative Bruno Lomenwa has defended Senator Julius Murgor against the attacks that were directed at him by the ward representatives on Monday 18th March.

Notably the verbal attacks happened during the seed launch ceremony led by governor Simon Kachapin on Monday at Makutano stadium.

In an exclusive interview with Kalya Digital,Lomenwa stated that Senator Murgor’s statement on ward representatives failing to do their duty to hold Governor Kachapin’s government accountable, and instead support every step he takes are true.

“What the senator said about the negligence of ward representatives in this county in holding the governor accountable is true. Instead of winning by blaming the senator for what he said, ward representatives should tell the governor the truth about the situation in this county,” he said.

Lomenwa, who was appointed through the KANU party, asked the ward representatives in the county to cooperate closely with senator Murgor.

Further adding that the collaborations is due to the fact that their role is to hold the government accountable, claiming that the constant praise that the leaders heap on the Governor may lead him to neglect his duties.

“We as ward representatives have to work closely with the senator because our responsibility is one, to hold the governor accountable. But if we win and praise him for everything he does, he might be lazy at work,” he said.

Speaking at the ceremony of launching seeds for farmers, the ward representatives led by the nominated ward representative Elisha Kasheusheu criticized Senator Murgor for what they claimed was paralyzing the efforts of Governor Kachapin to ensure development for the people.

“The work of the senate is to strengthen devolution. But the senator of this county has been the front line to fight the efforts that are being implemented by governor Kachapin,” said Kasheusheu.
