The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party leaders in the North Rift region are now asking Trans nzoia Governor George Natembeya to respect the National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, as the wrangles between the two intensifies.

The leaders led by Kapenguria member of parliament Samwel Moroto, stated that governor Natembeya should respect Wetangula and stop attacking him in every meeting.

Speaking in his constituency, Mr. Moroto claimed that the governor has been launching unending attacks on the national assembly speaker for not contributing to developments in western region,

Similarly, Moroto stated that matters concerning developments in any region are not the individual’s responsibility but the government’s.

Notably, the raging supremacy battle between the two turned ugly at a funeral in Goseta village, Kwanza constituency, Trans Nzoia County on Friday, March 22, 2024, as their supporters took on each other.

“I ask governor Natembeya to respect speaker Wetangula and stop attacking him in every meeting he attends. Development is not carried out by an individual but by the government,” said Mr. Moroto.

In addition, Mr. Moroto said the leaders from the north rift region recognize Wetangula’s efforts in uniting the conflicting communities in the borders of West Pokot, Trans nzoia, Turkana and Uganda.

“Wetangula has been instrumental in uniting warring communities along the West Pokot,Trans-nzoia, Turkana and Uganda borders,” he said.

Meanwhile, Natembeya has been in a tug of war with the national assembly in what is believed to be the battle for supremacy in western region politics.

He claims that despite Wetangula being in the political arena and getting major positions in the government for a long period of time, he has done nothing to improve the lives of the residents of the western region.

However, the Trans Nzoia Governor has dismissed claims that he disrespects National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula.
