West Pokot County Governor Simon Kachapin has launched the construction of the Keringet -Kaptarin road which will cost Ksh 10 million under the funding of the Equalization fund.

Speaking on Wednesday during the launch, Governor Kachapin said that the move is a good sign of development in marginalized counties.

Governor Kachapin said that the road will accelerate economic activities in the targeted areas.

“Construction of this road is a good gesture of development in marginalized counties. After the completion, this road will benefit the residents of this area economically,” said Mr. Kachapin.

The Governor also visited the former Kisii University in Keringet which was shut down due to lack of funding, stating that the plans of reviving it were underway.

“This university was shut down due to lack of funding. My aim of constructing this university was for the benefit of our people. I promise to revive it before the end of my term,” he said.

At the same time, governor Kachapin launched attacks on the previous administration for what he termed as abandoning many projects that he initiated in his first term, claiming that the move was motivated by political animosity.

“The former governor abandoned projects that I initiated in my first term as a governor due to political differences. But I will make sure that these projects are completed on time,” he added.
