Heavy Loaded Truck Drivers Warned Against Using Sections of Roads in West Pokot
By Joseph Lochele,
Heavy loaded truck drivers have been advised to use highway roads and not pass through Makutano town to minimize the chances of accidents and unnecessary jams.
In a statement to newsroom, the Head of Security Enforcers in Makutano town, West Pokot county Joseph Chemnyoru cautioned those who are still driving through the town that they will face full force of law if they persist.
Mr. Chemnyoru said that this move is for security purposes especially due to population increase in Makutano town.
“These are the measures put in place by the county government to avoid injuries that may be caused by goods that are being transported by the trucks. We want all the trucks to pass outside the town,” said Mr. Chemnyoru.
In addition, Mr. Chemnyoru asked residents who allow their livestock to roam in Makutano town to ensure that they remove them as they cause losses to traders.
He warned that action will be taken against those who will go against this order, including serving a jail term.
“We don’t want to see livestock roaming in Makutano town. Those residents whose livestock will be found within the town will face full force of law,” he said.
At the same time, the security enforcer complained of the increase of street children as well as people with disabilities who are brought by their relatives to beg money in town, warning those responsible for these people.
“From now going forward we will not allow people to be bringing people with disabilities to beg money in town. I want also to ask parents to take good care of their children so as to curb the increase of street children in makutano town,” he added
