West Pokot County Governor Simon Kachapin, has called on leaders and residents to provide a conducive environment for investors interested in investing in the county.

Speaking to Kalya Digital, Governor Kachapin said that border security cases have denied West Pokot county development for many years.

He said a few investors who show interest in investing in the county amid negative publicity, should be embraced for the benefit of the residents.

Mr. Kachapin appealed to the community to support the investments as they stand to benefit, adding that the target is to dispel negative perceptions and foster sustainable development in the region.

“Any investor who invests in this county should be given a conducive environment. For many years, West Pokot County has had negative publicity which has denied us developments,” said Mr. Kachapin.

Responding to complaints on how the Sebit clinker plant handles the employment issue, Mr. Kachapin appealed to the locals to submit complaints through appropriate channels instead of creating an environment that may scare investors.

The county boss called on the residents of the Sebit area to be creative and start activities that will give them income instead of waiting for employment opportunities.

“All people who come to West Pokot to invest are bringing resources. Let us use these opportunities to run businesses instead of waiting for employment,” he said.
