The West Pokot County Governor Simon Kachapin has promised to ensure that his government reduces unemployment among the residents.

Speaking on Sunday at Kapchela, Siyoi ward, Kachapin said that he will cooperate with all ward representatives to ensure that there is at least one person who the county government employs from each ward.

He said that his government has hired three thousand casual workers, and is ensuring that they receive Integrated Payroll and Personnel Database (IPPD) numbers.

“My government has hired three thousand casual workers in my bid to make sure unemployment cases are reduced in my tenure. I am currently working on the IPPD numbers for the three thousand workers,” said Mr. Kachapin.

At the same time, Mr. Kachapin assured all employees that they will be given the IPPD numbers, ignoring rumors on social media that those who have not yet received their numbers have been left out.

“We have not left out any casual worker as it is being alleged on social media. We have just started with the first group of workers and we will make sure that everyone is considered in this exercise,” he said.
