The Fred Hollows Foundation is preparing to launch a new community eye health program in West Pokot County, powered by Peek Vision’s innovative software and data intelligence platform.

According to Ronald Kefa, an official from the Peek Vision organization the new program will use the high-quality, near real-time data provided by Peek’s tools to optimize eye care services in the County.

He said that the community health volunteers will be visiting houses in rural areas to screen ayes using smartphones where all the data collected will be stored on those phones.

“Through the use of Smartphone vision screening tools, local eye health providers will be able to identify patients more easily and effectively,” said Mr. Kefa.

According to Mr. Kefa, the software will automatically send text message reminders to those needing further treatment supporting better appointment attendance.

“This software will help make our work easier as it will send text messages to those who will be found needing our attention,” he said.

He further said that the software will help identify the patients who did not arrive at the health centers where they were designated to receive services for easy follow-ups.

“Through this software, we will be able to identify those patients who did not come for treatment as directed, so that we can reach them and find out their reasons as to why they did so,” he added.
