Kachapin Calls out Politicians Using Politics to Divide the Nation
By Benson Aswani,
Leaders from West Pokot County have condemned the ongoing early politics in the country which they have described as regional, saying that those promoting such politics are doing so for their own personal benefit.
The leaders led by West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin stated that the ongoing politics is likely to lead to division among the people.
Likewise, while making their remarks, the leaders emphasized on leaders sticking to their main responsibility of ensuring that citizens live in unity.
“We do not want a country of divisions. We do not want our national leaders to divide the country on regional lines. Everyone must make sure that they unite the nation,” said Kachapin.
The leaders further noted that every citizen is free to live in any part of the nation no matter where they come from, asking those who promote such politics to stop immediately, and instead focus on how to improve the lives of the people.
“Everyone has the freedom to live anywhere according to our constitution. Those who spread regional politics should stop immediately because it is dangerous for the unity of the nation,” he said.
The leaders used the opportunity to congratulate President William Ruto for appointing the former West Pokot County Women representative Lilian Tomitom as an ambassador to Zambia, saying that the move is a great honor for the residents of the county.
“We congratulate the president for appointing one of us as ambassador to Zambia. This is a great honor for us and we promise to continue supporting him in his leadership,” added Kachapin.
