The County Government of West Pokot through the ministry of Public Works, Roads and Transport is implementing opening of new roads and repairing as per the ward fund allocation budget for the year 2023-2024

The CECM for Public works,Roads and transport Joshua Siwanyang has made his remarks on the progress in a media briefing in West Pokot County.

In his statement, he said that across the 20 wards of west Pokot there are specific regions with road progress ongoing while noting that footbridges are part of it.

“Weiwei 14, Alale 3,Batei 7 and one footbridge, Chepareria 7,Enduw 6, Kapchok 6, Kapenguria 12, Kasei 6,Kiwawa 9, Kodich 1,Lelan 8,Lomut 2,Masol 9,” said Siwanyang.

In addition Siwangang stated that aso Mnagei ward has 10 roads in progress, Seker 14, Siyoi 12,Sook 4,Suam 2, Tapach ward 4.

He also noted that of all the 20 wards only Riwo ward has no road allocation.

Siwanyang Emphasized on the importance of putting more budget allocation in Roads to improve means of transport,

“I urge all the Members of County Assembly (MCA’s) to make sure they allocate more funds in roads, many roads in our wards are still impassible”said Mr Siwanyang.

At the same time, Siwanyang called out some west Pokot MCA’s who have not allocated more funds on roads infrastructure.

“I expect Riwo ward to allocate more on roads but it’s clear that none of them has been budgeted to be started or repaired” said Siwanyang.

Residents should be able to differentiate roads that are for KENHA ,KERRA and for County Government, the difference for KERRA over roads for the County Government is not opening new roads but their task is to only grade and has its listed roads to grade.
