West Pokot County Govt Embraces New Policy

The County Government of West Pokot has on Monday 26th February officiated the launching of Disaster Risk management and Peace Building and Conflict Resolution Act and Policy.

The event which was graced by West Pokot governor HE Simon Kachapin was held at the County Residency in Kapenguria which also saw other county government officials present.

At the time of drafting the policy, the County Government of West Pokot spearheaded a collaborative effort that involved various stakeholders.

The efforts and stakeholders used in processing the policy included participation of county government staff, Members of County Assembly (MCA’s), organizations, NGOs, churches, communities, and signatories of institutions.

While making his official remarks Governor Kachapin lauded the Members of County Assembly for passing the Disaster Risk management and Peace Building and Conflict Resolution Act and Policy.

“Thank you the County assembly for representing the will of the people and passing the bill,” said Kachapin.

In addition the County boss also appreciated the past regime,Members of County assembly for passing the bursary bill enabling the County government to set aside Education funds.
