Youths in West Pokot County have been advised to use social media platforms to achieve a positive future and not for abusing leaders and casting other people.

The ICT officer in the office of the women representative office West Pokot county, Ian Korwa, stressed that successful people in the society did not achieve their dreams and aspirations by abusing leaders, urging youths to engage in meaningful and productive activities.

In his remarks he said most of the youths in the county are misusing the internet by defaming leaders for the benefit of some politicians.

“I urge youths to engage in meaningful and productive activities and stop allowing themselves to be used by some politicians on defaming other leaders through social media,” said Mr. Korwa.

In addition, Korwa said that strict legal measures may be taken against those who will be found defaming leaders.

Consequently, he expressed his fears of emerging differences among the supporters of various politicians if this trend continues.

“These leaders have their supporters and if this trend continues, it may cause differences among them,” said Korwa

In addition the ICT guru further noted that the improper display of messages on social media are the kind of situations that cause fights among the supporters of political leaders.
