The West Pokot Economic Sacco Society Limited (WEPESA) has launched its branch at Konyao, Pokot North as a way of expanding its services to locals.

The Sacco also launched six motorcycles, one Probox car, a tractor and one maize milling machine.

Speaking during the launch, the County Executive Committee Member for trade, cooperatives and development, Cleah Parklea, commended the move, which she said is beneficial for the residents.

Further, she encouraged the public to embrace the Sacco for their future benefits.

“This is the first branch since the WEPESA office was opened at Makutano, Kapenguria. Therefore, I encourage residents to embrace this Sacco because it will greatly benefit them,” said Mrs. Parklea.

Her statements were echoed by the ministry’s chief officer, Daniel Lopale, who stated that locals will only be empowered economically through joining such cooperatives.

“The governor always insists on development. This is one of the steps to achieve development. I ask our people to embrace this Sacco because it is through such cooperatives that they will empower themselves economically,” said Mr. Lopale.

Led by Joseph Lotukotum, the locals who are members of the Sacco applauded the move saying that it will enable more locals to join, thus increasing its membership.

“We are very happy about the opening of this office. This is a good move that will enable many locals to join the Sacco,” said Lotukotum.
