United Democratic Alliance members in West Pokot County have officially kicked off the grassroots elections in the County on Friday 26th April.

Notably the exercise which begins today in West Pokot County, will be among other seven counties that are preparing for the first phase of the exercise.

Speaking to the members of the fourth estate, West Pokot County Deputy Governor, Robert Komole called on all those participating in the election to ensure that they focus on stability in the exercise and not consider it a matter of life and death.

In his statement he said that the ongoing party election has nothing to do with the 2027 general election, and that all those participating should not create an environment that may lead to violence.

“This is only a party election and has nothing to do with the next general election, this election is not serious, so people should not treat it as a matter of life and death, a situation that may lead to violence,” said Komole.

Further, Komole claimed that the election of the party is not very important, but it is only used to strengthen the loyalty of its members.

At the same time, Komole encouraged all those who will be elected to represent the party in various positions, to use those positions to better serve the members of the party and not to use them for their personal benefit.

“All the leaders who will be elected in this exercise should not see now that they have been given the opportunity to focus on their personal interests, they should use this opportunity to serve the party well so that it continues to gain popularity,” he said.

In addition, Komole asked leaders from other parties who announced to collaborate with the UDA party not to interfere in the activities of the party during this election with the intention of disrupting the activity and instead giving the party time to run this activity peacefully.

“Other leaders who joined us from other parties should give us a chance to do our party elections. Don’t come here to start telling us how we should do our things,” he said.
