Transportation activities have been paralyzed in Kodera near Konyao Center Kapchok ward after heavy rains swept away a footbridge in Kodera Kanyang’aren River.
According to the villagers the bridge connecting the two villages was swept away by heavy floods, causing extensive destruction as well as cutting off access for traders who sell their animals in Konyao Market.

“We woke up to a disaster today as the footbridge swept. Nobody can cross it, and this footbridge is crucial for the residents crossing to Konyao to buy their goods,” recounted Samuel Namuge, a resident of Kodera.

The locals are now calling on the Government for assistance to rebuild the footbridge which has been of help moving around while transporting goods to the market.

Meanwhile, while most parts of the Country is currently experiencing heavy rains that has rendered roads impassable in a number of arid and semi-arid areas, residents have been advised to use alternative routes to prevent accidents.

This comes subsequent to a warning by the Kenyan Meteorological Department that heavy rainfall is expected to continue in most parts of the country.
