Oparanya Vows To Resign As CS Should His Advice Be Ignored

Cooperatives Development and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) cabinet secretary Wycliffe Oparanya says he is ready to step down from the position should his advice to the government be ignored.
Speaking on Sunday at Mariakani church of God, Oparanya defended his decision to accept President William Ruto’s nomination in his new cabinet citing his performance in his tenure as governor.
Oparanya said he is ready to work as a Cooperative Development and MSMEs cabinet secretary provided the government heeds his advice in the ministry.
“I am ready to work as a cabinet secretary in the Kenya Kwanza government. But if they ignore my advice on how to run this ministry, I will resign and come back home,” he said.
The new Cabinet Secretary is tasked with President Ruto’s administration’s most important docket to ensure a boost to Kenyans at the bottom of the economic pyramid.
Mr. Oparanya also spoke on the need for Luhya unity hailing the formation of a broad-based government.
“You saw the work I did in Kakamega as a governor. That is why these people looked around and agreed that I can help in delivering,” said Mr. Oparanya.
