Motorists using the Kitale Lodwar road between Marich and Kainuk have been urged to be careful when using the road after it was damaged by floods between Kambi Karai and Lous.

The West Pokot County Police Commander Peter Katam issued the statement indicating an alternative road that has been designed in that area to allow transport activities to continue.

While speaking to Kalya Digital News, Katam said that plans are underway to ensure that the road is repaired as soon as possible to allow normal conditions to return.

“There is an alternative road that has been designed beside the collapsed road in Kambi Karai between Marich and Kainuk. But I ask the drivers who use that road to be very careful when they reach that place,” said Katam.

Katam’s statement came after the drivers who use the road led by Mohammed Waswa complained saying that the alternative road that has been set aside may not last due to the serious damage caused by the floods on the road.

“This road that has been designed in this area will not take long to be damaged, if we continue to witness heavy rains and floods,” said Waswa.

Notably, parts of the road was damaged by floods that resulted from the heavy rain that continues to be witnessed in different parts of the country and greatly disabled the transport activities on the Kitale Lodwar road.

At the same time, Katam used the opportunity to appeal to the residents living in those areas to be careful with the floods that are being witnessed and even if possible to move to safer areas, to prevent the disaster that may be caused by the floods caused by the heavy rains that are being witnessed.

“I encourage the residents of this area to be more careful due to the floods that are being witnessed. Even if possible, they would move to safer areas to avoid the disaster that may be caused by this flood,” said Katam.
