KCSE Examinations Kick Off Country-Wide

Kenya Certificate for Secondary Education (KCSE) examination has officially kicked off on Monday across the country where various schools received the assessment papers since dawn.
Speaking to Kalya Digital after launching the KCSE examination papers distribution exercise, West Pokot County Director of Education Simon Wamae expressed his belief that the exercise will continue without the challenges that were experienced in previous years.
Mr. Wamae further stressed the need for integrity in the ongoing KCSE examination.
“We have worked on strategies to make sure we do not experience challenges that have been witnessed in previous years during national examinations. We believe this exercise will go on well,” said Mr. Wamae.
He noted the increase in the number of candidates sitting for KCSE examination in 2024 by 18.4% as compared to the 2023 national examination.
“We have registered an increase in the number of candidates sitting for KCSE exams this year by 18.4% from 11,534 candidates who sat for KCSE exams last year,” he added.
On his part, Kapenguria Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Wycliffe Munanda said that there are enough security officers who will make sure that the process runs smoothly through the period of three weeks that candidates will be sitting for their final examinations.
He further cautioned against cheating stating that strategies have been put in place to make sure no cheating cases are reported.
“We have put in place strategies that will help curb cheating in these years’ KCSE examinations. We have enough security officers who will make sure no such cases are reported,” said Mr. Munanda.
