Education Director, Kacheliba Sub County in West Pokot County, Edward Wangamati, has called on all students who failed to take their KCPE exams last year due to various reasons to come forward and be placed in secondary schools.
Speaking in his office, Wangamati said it is the government’s policy to ensure that every student registered for the KCPE exam last year joins the high school due to the fact that it was the last exam to be held under the 8.4.4 curriculum.
However, he said 98 percent of students have already joined the form one and Junior secondary schools JSS.
Likewise, Wangamati noted that strategies are being put in place to find those who have not yet reported to their various schools in order to fulfill the government’s 100 percent transition policy.
“We are asking the students who registered for the KCPE national exam last year and did not sit for their exams to come forward so that we can place them in secondary schools,” said Mr. Wangamati.
In addition, he applauded the support from UNICEF, in the bringing out of school children back to school program, which he termed a successful, despite the challenges of finding those who crossed the borders to neighboring country.
“We collaborated with the children’s organization UNICEF in the bringing out of school children back to school program which was a great success, though we encountered challenges for those who went to the neighboring country of Uganda,” he said.
