Kachapin Lauds The Security Department For Silencing Guns In Border Areas

West Pokot County Governor Simon Kachapin, has commended the security department for its efforts to ensure that there is calmness in the border areas of West Pokot county and the neighboring counties of Turkana and Elgeyo Marakwet.
Speaking during the celebration of Mashujaa day organized at Makutano primary, Kachapin also lauded the West Pokot County Commissioner Khalif Abdulahi saying that the security situation in the County has greatly improved under his watch.
In addition, the County boss promised the full cooperation of his government to ensure that the county remains stable.
“I want to thank the County Commissioner. Since you came, we have seen a change in the security situation of this country. I want to promise you that my government will work hand in hand with you to ensure the stability of this County,” said Governor Kachapin.
He also warned the political leaders against uttering statements that may undermine the peace that is being witnessed.
“I also want to warn political leaders in this county. We should be careful of what we say in public meetings. Let us not utter words that can undermine the peace that we are witnessing,” he added.
On his part, County Commissioner Abdulahi Khalif said in the past six months, West Pokot County has not reported any case of bandit attacks, adding that so far a total of 235 national Police Reservists NPR have been deployed in the county to help strengthen security.
“West Pokot County was declared as disturbed and dangerous because of cattle rustling. But now we are proud to announce that for the last six months, we have managed to silence the guns,” said Mr. Khalif.
