Floods Cut off Several Regions of Karita,While Multiple Roads are Closed

Amudat District Member of Parliament Hon Betty Louke Chepokarial has visited residents of Karita area who were affected by floods following heavy rains that hit the region recently.
The floods according to Ugandan government has affected many roads in the region hence affecting economical activities.
According to the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA), the Karita-Alakas-Amudat road has been cut off at Dindinga, Km 39, while the Apeitolim-Iriiri road is impassable at Losagari, Km 19. The Matany-Lokopo-Turtuko road has also been submerged at Turtuko, Km 25.
While giving remarks,UNRA has advised motorists to use alternative routes, including Amudat-Alakas-Konyau-Asilong to Karita, and Iriiri-Nadunget-Ariamoi-LopeiLokicher-Turtuko-Apeitolim for the other two affected roads.
Speaking to Kalya Digital News in Karita Uganda, Chepokarial called on the government to intervene and send aid to the people of Karita.
In addition she asked the Ugandan Government to compensate residents who were displaced with their houses being destroyed completely.
“I urge the disaster committee from the district led by their chairperson Alfred Logwe and the central government through Lilian Aber state minister for disaster and preparedness to come and rescue our people who have been hit by floods in Karita”said Chepokarial.
Likewise, Chepokarial asked the government through the ministry of roads to build a bridge on River Karita to help people cross safely.
