Champion Kelvin Kiptum Final Journey Begins in Eldoret

The funeral ceremony of the late World marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum has kicked off at his neighboring home town.

On Thursday, the body left Eldoret Hospital mortuary at 9.00 am, with family and friends gathered to see the final journey of the late Kiptum.

A procession is being held in Eldoret town, after which the convoy will head to Kiptum’s home in Iten.

Later in the day at Iten, a church service is set to be held, after which the public will view the body of the late marathoner.

Kiptum will be laid to rest at his Naiberi home on Friday 23rd.

According to state officials ,the burial ceremony will be attended by President William Ruto, state dignitaries and dignitaries in the athletics profession.

The late Kelvin Kiptum met his death in a road crash on February 11, 2024, alongside his coach Gervais Hakizimana.

Notably,his Rwandees coach the late Gervais Hakizimana was laid to rest on 21st Wednesday in Kigali Rwanda.
