An Unknown Body has Been Retrieved from a River in Chesra

The heavy rains continue to bring destructions in West Pokot County with a number of cases reported of floods sweeping away homes and shops.

However, on Wednesday 8th 2024 a body of an Unknown male adult was found floating in river Chesra of West Pokot County.

According to reports by Kapenguria Police station, the body was reported floating at noon of Wednesday with the locals led by Kiamakeo assistant Chief Michael Loreng calling upon the police to the scene.

Further, according to a report by the police, the officers made a swift response to the call and visited the scene within Kalinmyang village of Endough ward.

While giving a report on the account, the Police Officers at the Kapenguria Police station noted difficulties in accessing the body due to flooding that rendered the road impressable.

“Police officers from the station responded and visited the scene within Kalimnyang village of Endough ward m/ref. YS 250659 about 80 kms North of the station but could not access the site due to flooding and other environmental challenges,” read the report by Kapenguria Police Station.

Also while revealing the approximate age of the deceased, the authorities further added how long it took them to finally get hold of the body.

“A night vigil was mounted and the body of unknown African male adult aged about 60 yrs was retrieved today 09/05/24 at 0940 hrs after the floods subsided,” read the report.

Meanwhile according to reports the police noted that the deceased could have drowned at unknown place upstream and pushed downward where he was located stuck in a tree branch.

Further according to Kapenguria police station, the body has hence been moved to Kapenguria county referral hospital mortuary awaiting identification and postmortem.
