Malala Claims Plot To Impeach Gachagua Was Instigated By Mbarire And Ichungwa
By Emmanuel Oyasi,
Former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party secretary general Cleophas Malala has claimed that his ouster was part of the grand scheme to impeach deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.
In his statement to the newsroom barely two weeks after his ouster as party secretary general, Malala alleged that UDA chairperson Cecil Mbarire and majority leader in the national assembly Kimani Ichungwa, were part of a group spearheading a purge on allies of the deputy president to prepare the ground to whip members to support an ouster motion when tabled before parliament.
Mr. Malala claimed that he was removed from the party ranks after he failed to cooperate in the impeachment plot that was to be sanctioned from the party headquarters
“My ouster had nothing to do with the incompetence or my inability to run the UDA party, but was a well-choreographed script intended to climax with the impeachment of the deputy president Rigathi Gachagua,” he claimed.
Mr. Malala further claimed that his political closeness to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who has been facing an onslaught from members within the UDA party necessitated his ouster from the party leadership.
“The impeachment had everything to do with the egocentric 2027 and 2032 politics from Mt. Kenya region and was instigated and propelled by Mrs. Cecil Mbarire and Mr. Kimani Ichungwa. These two want our deputy president out so that they can strategically position themselves within the emerging political realignment,” he remarked.
The former UDA secretary general has further indicated that he will be contesting to be the secretary general of the party in the upcoming elections.
Malala’s remarks have since sparked reactions, as the UDA’s founders chair lawyer Joe Khalende rubbishes his claims.
Khalende has called for disciplinary action against Malala who he claimed is working with individuals who are against President William Ruto’s administration.
