Lotee Defends His Remarks On Boundaries Between West Pokot And Turkana Counties
By Emmanuel Oyasi,
Kacheliba Member of Parliament Titus Lotee has defended himself from the accusations directed at him by some leaders from the neighboring Turkana County regarding his remarks on the border areas of the West Pokot and Turkana counties.
Speaking to Kalya Digital, Lotee said it is his responsibility as a leader to use all avenues available to ensure residents live in peace and harmony.
Mr. Lotee said he presented a petition in parliament to seek clarification from relevant authorities on some areas that are said to belong to Turkana County, yet they are found in West Pokot County.
“It is my duty as a leader to ensure that my people live in peace. My move to present a petition before parliament was to find clarification on some areas that are said to be of Turkana yet they are found in West Pokot County,” said Mr. Lotee.
He asked leaders from the neighboring Turkana County to stop politicizing security matters, encouraging them to use appropriate procedures in presenting their views concerning the petition that he presented to the parliament.
“I ask my fellow leaders from Turkana County to stop politicizing security matters. The matter is before parliament and if they need some clarification, they should seek it through parliament,” he added.
However, Mr. Lotee called on leaders from both counties to preach peace and harmony among residents and devise ways of ending conflicts that have cost a lot of lives.
“I call upon leaders to preach peace among our people and do all they can to make sure cases of insecurity are dealt with,” he remarked.
