West Pokot County Governor Simon Kachapin, has joined the list of the political leaders who have applauded President William Ruto’s move to include Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leaders in his new cabinet nominees.

In a statement to the news room, Governor Kachapin said that President Ruto’s move will ensure national unity and leadership reforms in the country as demanded by the Gen Z youths.

Governor Kachapin asked the leaders who have expressed their displeasure on the inclusion of ODM party leaders in the new cabinet to give the president a chance to carry out his mandate of ensuring national unity.

“President Ruto has taken the best step to include ODM party leaders in his cabinet. This is a good move in ensuring national unity and leadership reforms as demanded by the Gen Z youths,” said Mr. Kachapin.

He said most of the leaders who are against the president’s move have served in the government in past years.

“Most of the leaders who are opposing the move taken by the president have already served in the government. They have nothing to offer,” he said.

At the same time, the county boss asked the political leaders across the country to stop engaging in early politics.

He instead asked them to work together in ensuring better lives for tax payers.

“This is not the time for politics. All leaders should work together regardless of political divide to better the lives of our people,” he added.

In his second batch of Cabinet Secretary Nominees, President Ruto nominated MP and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party chairman John Mbadi to head the Treasury ministry, while National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi was nominated to the Energy and Petroleum Ministry.

Former Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho is the Mining CS nominee as Wycliffe Oparanya heads to the Cooperatives and MSME Development Ministry.
