Leaders in West Pokot County have condemned the protests held by the Gen Z youths against the leadership of President William Ruto.

Speaking to Kalya Digital, Kapenguria Member of Parliament Samwel Moroto asked those leading demonstrations to give the president a chance to address their grievances.

Mr. Moroto said President Ruto has shown a willingness to address what the Gen Z youths are pressing, therefore he should be given time to deliver on his promises.

“The president should be given a chance to address what the Gen Z youths are demanding. I ask our youths to stop demonstrations as the president looks into their grievances,” said Mr. Moroto.

His sentiments were echoed by the Kerio Valley Development Authority Director Simon Kalekem who called on parents to take full responsibility for their children and stop them from participating in the protest.

Mr. Kalekem further asked the president to take charge and perform his duties as stipulated by the constitution, and bring to an end the protests that are perpetuating violence under the disguise of peaceful protests.

“I call upon all parents to take full responsibility for their children and make sure they do not take to the streets against the government. I also ask the president to take charge and stop this nonsense,” he said.

On his side, the former Kacheliba Member of Parliament Mark Lomunokol called out various civil societies as well as media outlets for what he claimed were stirring protests against the Kenya Kwanza government.

He asked all parties to be on the lookout especially at this time when the nation is facing turmoil.

“I want to call upon civil societies and the media outlets in the republic of Kenya to be responsible at this particular time when our country is in turmoil,” said Mr Lomunokol.
