Police at Kanyarkwat, West Pokot County have launched an investigation on the killing of Losero Limapus a resident of Chemwono village, Katikomor division in Kapenguria Sub County over witchcraft allegations.

Speaking to Kalya Fm Digital, the area assistant Chief Abraham Limo said the deceased’s eldest son hanged him after being compelled by the villagers who were full of wrath.

According to the sources, the deceased’s daughter took a piece of hair from their neighbor’s daughter and left with it a few moments later, raising concerns from her parents.

Mr. Limo said things took an ugly turn when the girl’s parents alleged that the deceased was planning to bewitch their daughter.

“The deceased’s daughter went and took a piece of hair from their neighbor’s daughter and left with it, an act that raised concern from the girl’s parents on the motive of that move,” said Mr. Limo.

He said upon the investigation, the deceased’s oldest son said that he was forced by the villagers who were burning with anger to hang their father.

Mr. Limo condemned the act strongly, promising to make sure those who caused man’s death face the full force of the law.

“This is not the way things should be done. Those who took part in this evil act will face the law, and that one I promise,” he said.

Confirming the incident, Kapenguria OCPD Joel Kirui said the police are investigating the matter.

He warned that the law will take its course against the perpetrators once the investigations are completed.

“The police are on the case and once the investigations are done, those who will be found culpable will be dealt with according to the law,” said Mr. Kirui.
