West Pokot Leaders Praise The President’s Engagement With The Gen Zs On X

West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin has applauded the conversation held by President William Ruto with the Gen Z youths through the X space platform to highlight their grievances.

President Ruto held the X space conversation with the youths on Friday last week where he had a chance to respond to their grievances.

The Gen Z youths took to the streets for a better part of June, a move that saw President Ruto decline to sign the 2024 finance bill that was the main agenda of their demonstrations.

Speaking to Kalya Digital on Sunday, Governor Kachapin said the president’s conversation with the youths was vital in ensuring the country’s development.

The county boss further said no country has ever attained development through a hostile environment.

“This is our country and the way our constitution stipulates, everyone has a freedom of expression. I thank the president for creating time to listen to our youths,” said Mr. Kachapin.

However, Mr. Kachapin demanded the arrest of those who took advantage of the protests to steal and vandalize properties.

He said if such criminal activities are allowed to continue, the country may find itself in a reign of terror and anarchy.

“Those criminals that took advantage of demonstration to steal property should face the full force of law because we don’t want to be a country where the rule of law is not being applied,” he said.
